About This Episode
Shay Foulk announces the release of the Farm Profit Manager app and explains what it means for people who already bought Profit Manager. Both the online software and the Excel version are now free, and the Excel tool will keep getting updates as requests come in through the app. What is not included is consulting; buyers of the old package paid for lifetime team access, and Ag View is not extending that to every new sign-up. Existing users are encouraged to onboard.
The app carries the same cost calculations Chris Barron built over 30 years, arriving at true cost plus a return on a per-acre basis. A dashboard shows profitability by crop, marketing positions, and equipment outlook. Crop pages hold budget categories users can add to, insurance calculators, and a marketing outlook. Equipment entries take valuations and amortized life. Financial pages cover balance sheet, cash flow projections, overhead, return to management, and loan schedules, and field-by-field analysis now sits alongside crop enterprise analysis.
New pieces include a planned John Deere Operations Center connection that pulls in fields, crops, and connected equipment, a chatbot that answers questions against your own farm numbers, prebuilt lender reports covering cash flow, balance sheet, and debt summary, and team features for tasks, events, and employee time logs. Users who choose to share data get a lighter benchmarking view, while paid clients get deeper reports. Onboarding runs $2,500, and a multi-entity version for advisors is planned.
“Our goal, our motto is we help people and businesses thrive.”
— Shay Foulk
Key Takeaways
Both the online app and the Excel version of Farm Profit Manager are free; consulting is a separate paid relationship, not part of the free tool.
Past Profit Manager buyers get all current tools with no paywall; new tools may sit behind a paywall for people who never bought it.
The cost math is unchanged: true cost plus a return, per acre, by crop enterprise, with true field-by-field analysis added by request.
Ag View admins can now see a client's numbers directly instead of trading Excel files, and edits save automatically in one place.
A John Deere Operations Center integration will pull fields, crops, and connected equipment into setup to cut entry time.
Onboarding is $2,500; sharing your data unlocks a benchmarking view, and paid clients get in-depth benchmarking reports and presentations.

Shay: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of the Ag View Pitch. Today is a special edition coming to you with the release of the Farm Profit Manager app. As the Ag View Solutions team, we wanted to talk through a little bit, uh, to current clients kind of what this means and really set the stage for what all is included in the app, why, uh, Profit Manager users that have been part of our, you know, Ag View Solutions team here for 2 years or 5 years or 10 years are going to benefit massively from this. And maybe just lay out the framework a little bit more. But overall, just wanted to emphasize this is an extremely positive benefit to everyone that's been part of the Ag View Solutions team. It's gonna have massive implications on kind of how we manage data, how we provide timely information back to you guys, and some other integrations down the road.
So it will be referred to as Farm Profit Manager moving forward. That was one of those things that, you know, Profit Manager is great if you're in ag and you say, well, yeah, I want to, you know, profit manage my crops. But so we will exclusively be referring to it as Farm Profit Manager moving forward, except for the times that we forget. But we've moved to offering both the online software that you might be seeing on your screen if you're watching on YouTube, as well as the Excel version completely free. Now, this is where we want to have a point of clarity that does not include any consulting services. So for those of you that have bought Profit Manager, you know, in last month or the last year or the last decade, we can understand that there's some questions there on like, well, what's different there?
You bought the full consulting lifetime access to our team that is not included with this. We are not dedicating all of our time to help however many hundreds or thousands of people that we have sign up from a consulting standpoint for free, that doesn't make good sense from a business standpoint. Really, it actually improves our ability to help you manage, you know, our relationship with you from a consulting standpoint so that we can provide the most value to the most people in the most efficient way, but also manage that consulting relationship more in depth. And that's kind of, that's been our commitment to you. Another reason that we moved this way is we were resistant for a while on software integration and development just because it was so, so costly, so prohibitive.
But with the advent of AI and the integration of some of these tools that we've seen, it has just progressed so rapidly. And those of you that have been to our conference here since 2023, 2024 timeframe, you understand the amount of change that's been made. And what's been referred to there is You know, a year ago might have been too soon and a year from now is too late. And so we saw this as the opportune time within Ag View Solutions and the Farm Profit Manager team to really double down on the offering, to build out these tools and to build what you want with the, with the heart of the legacy Profit Manager built in here. But really, we have such tremendous opportunity to build out different tools, different integrations, different visuals, different things that ultimately help you make better decisions within the farm operation.
So if you've been an existing Profit Manager user, we highly encourage you to onboard into the Farm Profit Manager system. Now for those of you that onboarded in the last few years, Mac went in— Mac is on the Ag View Solutions team, he's my brother— Mac went in and pulled all of the online system emails that we have that are associated, but we recognize that's not everybody because we were only operating off of that for, you know, 2 and a 3 years here. So if you're a legacy Profit Manager user, we highly recommend that you go to farmprofitmanager.app, app, farmprofitmanager.app, and, and sign up. Now you may want to— well, there's several paths. Some of you may just want to continue to use the Excel version. That's great. Nothing has changed there.
We will probably actually continue to make updates on the Excel side as we see different things that people are requesting here through the software, through the app. And so new versions of that will continue to be available. You can always email us for that if you've, you know, bought Profit Manager here over the last, call it 5 or 6 years with the most recent equipment upgrades. And we're here to service and support that. But if you, you know, get through 2026, you know, I'm recording this at the end of March 2026 here. If you get through 2026 and you're like, you know what, for 2027, I want to be integrated into the software. It's a very simple login. There's nothing crazy there. We don't do any two-factor authentication or all that other stuff that makes it difficult to get into. You know, we'd love to kind of help you work through that process. How do we pull that data in?
It's very easy, especially if, you know, you're used to kind of all the data entry points that we've had historically with Profit Manager. Farm Profit Manager does the exact same things. And then again, just to reemphasize that the consulting service that's in that you might have purchased in the past with Profit Manager is not what we are offering here for free. In fact, what we think and why we made this business decision is we actually think there's a continued huge demand to have that service and support and have that lifetime, you know, awareness, the ability to call, pick up the phone and say, hey, Shay, I got a question on this. So now we actually have better access as admins on the back end to be able to see your information. You don't have to send us the Excel file.
We can go in, see exactly what you're looking at, help you do some entries, help you make some changes in real time, and then it's automatically saved, automatically updated, all in the same place for you as a user. Now I'm going to shift here a little bit. If you guys are, you know, just listening to this on the podcast, go check out the YouTube video. I think you'll really like the visualization of the setup. We've had a lot of really positive feedback. And that's something that I commend Chris on having done with the Excel tool over the last 30 years that kind of separated that and, and set it apart from a lot of the others out there. So we have a dashboard overview here, profitability by all crops, where you're at in marketing positions, what are the details, you know, any equipment outlook.
We're going to create some functionality on this where you can move tiles around, you can add different dashboards from the different pages. We want this to be what you want to see when you log in. When you go into each of the crops, of course, you have your typical budget breakdowns, nutrients, chemicals. You can add any category that you want. So that adds a little bit more functionality maybe than what the Excel had because we kind of like to work within those parameters. So you can add in any categories that you want. You still have your insurance calculators where you add on economic income, out expenses, profit, total, you know, gross profit, what's that look like? Within that then you also have your marketing outlook. So it's very easy to go into each of the individual crops that you have. Again, some of you that we've worked with for years have corn and soybeans.
Some of you have 4 different crops, some of you have 10 different crops, some of you have over 15 crops. This is all on the dashboard. It's all super easy to add in, you know, maybe where some of the hiccups have come on the Excel side as we built those out as one-offs over time. Now it's all internal, it's all in one system. Again, all the baseline information that you've used historically, completely free in this tool. Now I will hit on some integrations here in just a minute. So equipment side, equipment is built in. Basically, you'll just create an equipment list, put in all the valuations, what you anticipate your amortized life is of that equipment. We can talk through equipment efficiencies and talk through different passes within the system. It's going to be very familiar if you've been a Profit Manager user in the past.
If, and if you haven't been a Profit Manager user, when you log into Farm Profit Manager here, the prompting doesn't take you that long. I think probably within about 45 minutes. One of the integrations that we have is we're going to actually be offering connectivity to John Deere OpsCenter to where it'll pull in all your field information, all your crops, all your equipment that's connected, and can save you a tremendous amount of time on setup, but same cost calculation that we've used forever. Some of that proprietary information that Chris developed and put together and that you guys have come to see a huge amount of value in, that is all located within Farm Profit Manager to arrive at what is my true cost plus a return on a per acre basis that I need to be charging back to the farm operation. You can do field by field analysis.
This is something that we always had the capability to do based off of enterprise. But now you can do a true field-by-field outlook for your operation to ensure that if there's a, you know, a one-off scenario that you want to make sure, hey, are we truly profitable on this operation or on this farm or are we not? We still feel that the crop enterprise basis is the best outlook for making those decisions from a managerial perspective. But again, people asked for it. So we built it in, we have it all ready to go. From a financial outlook side, we have a bunch of stuff built in to create a more comprehensive internal outlook. So what's your balance sheet, cash flow projections? Where are you at from an overhead perspective? Return to management. Where are you at on a total outlook for your return to management?
You can plug in loan information, schedules, payments, amortizations, really creating a one-stop system here for you to do a lot of your internal farm management. That we know so many of you had already built in. You know, you had all these excellent tabs within Profit Manager, but now you can pull in all this other information. You might have pulled in tabs from other spreadsheets. It's all right here from a planning perspective. Okay. You can have your team connected to Farm Profit Manager here. What events do you have come up? What tasks do you have that you want to manage? Maybe as a farm manager, your employees can, can do time tracking and put work logs in here for what needs done or what has been done for your records. And the other thing to keep in mind, so there's a, you know, if you're not watching this, there's a chatbot here in the bottom right corner.
This agent knows your farm operation, so it can go search any of that information. This is probably the biggest game changer within the system for you to be able to go in and take a look at, hey, I need to ask questions of my farm operation, my numbers internally. We have some predetermined reports here from a, you know, what, let's put together a lender packet. What's my cash flow, balance sheet, debt summary? It takes 20 to 30 seconds to load these, but they're all available. We have all the additional tools. This is something that if you've been a Profit Manager user in the past, you will have access to all these tools. No paywall. As we develop more tools moving forward and for people that have not been users of Profit Manager, in the past. We will, we will probably require some amount of paywall as we move forward on the Farm Profit Manager Outlook.
From a setting standpoint, so one of the biggest things that is really going to be awesome about this is Chris has historically gone in and done it the long way of calculating a lot of the fertility numbers and land costs and equipment changes. And it takes a lot of time, but the information is so valuable when we kick out stuff on, on podcasts whether it's here on the Ag View Pitch or with some of, you know, Joe Vaclovic's premium or the articles that we write or the presentations that we give, we will now have the ability to pull that data if you choose to share it. So on setup as well as in the settings here, you can choose if you want to have your data available to us. If it is, we are going to provide a benchmarking outlook. So the benchmarking will be available at a more in-depth basis.
We're going to— we're planning to do some more comprehensive reports for those of you that are paid. Farm Profit Manager consulting clients, or for those of you who have bought Profit Manager in the past as a paid service, we're going to give you in-depth. But in order to incentivize people to, you know, share their data— and again, all this data stays internally. It's, it's only for us. We're not selling it to anybody. We're not doing anything stupid like that. But if, if people choose to share their data, we're going to give them like a benchmarking light as a quote unquote reward, you know, for filling out the data and sharing.
But if you are a paid Profit Manager, Farm Profit Manager customer, we're going to do in-depth reports, we're going to give presentations, we're going to send some stuff out to you guys that is additional benefit that you're not going to get anywhere else and that others aren't going to get. So to kind of wrap up here, I think you guys can see the capabilities are massive. You still have all of your, your support team members here. So Andy, Jeremy, Joe, myself, Chris to a lesser extent just because of, you know, him wanting to do more of the one-on-one consulting work here. Mac and Sam. So Mac, Mac is my brother. Sam is my cousin. They're the ones that have really made this whole thing happen within the software app. We are here to get your feedback and to see what you guys want and to make this the absolute best product moving forward. We have a feature here on the dashboard.
Do you have an idea or a future request that you want built in, we'd love to hear it. We want your feedback. If you run into issues, you can generate a support ticket that say, hey, you know, Mac, I'm having this issue, or hey, Shay, you need to look into this. Probably the last thing is I know a lot of you that listen to the Ag View Pitch might have a set of customers or clients that you work with yourself that you're like, you know, man, I wish more of my farmers would use this. We're gonna have a built-in ability to run multiple entities within here. And it's probably going to be like an enterprise service that, you know, we're probably going to need to charge something for it just to maintain that professionalism, maintain relationship expectations, and also to maintain an outlook of, you know, the brand recognition that's behind Farm Profit Manager and the Ag View Solutions team.
But maybe you run a seed business and you want to run your customer information here to help them think through those decisions, or, you know, an insurance agent or You know, maybe you're involved from a marketing standpoint on providing marketing advice and wow, you know, if you could look at an average of your clients and your customers and your information of people that entrust that through you, there's, there's tons, tons of opportunities here. I think this is a critical piece that's been missing in the industry to bridge the gap between where have people been from an Excel-based standpoint or not knowing their numbers to, you know, we can essentially skip that step. So think back to the early 1900s. If you didn't have a horse growing up because you couldn't afford it, but then when you can afford it, you're going to go buy the automobile. You don't need to buy the horse.
So there's, there's some people that are maybe in that gap that it's like, well, you know, maybe I never had the Excel figured out, but I think I can navigate my way through this. And again, for the ability, if you're interested, that $2,500 onboarding, or if you've already done it within Profit Manager, we're here to help you. We're here to support you. We're just excited. I mean, this is— this has been a massive undertaking for our team. But what we saw is this is a need in the marketplace. It's something you all have been asking for a long time of, hey, are you going to make it into a software, make it into an app? And the time is now. So if you guys have questions, reach out to me specifically, shay@agviewsolutions.com, or go to farmprofitmanager.app, get signed up, submit support tickets, say, hey, I got an idea for this, I want you guys to build this out. We're here for you.
